Scott Malyan

Maintenance and Activities Support

I was born and lived in Sunderland until I was 17 when I joined The Royal Engineers as an adult recruit. After completing Basic Training and then Combat Engineer training, I was posted to Hameln in Germany for 5 years where I joined 28 Amphibious Engineer Regiment. I spent 15 years in the Army visiting different countries including Cyprus, Canada, Croatia, Bosnia, Germany, The Falkland Islands, Ascension Islands and Iceland to name a few.  After leaving the Army I have had numerous jobs including Teaching for Northumberland Council, Private Chauffeur and Youth work.

I enjoy volunteering for different roles. I recently volunteered for the Tall Ships Races in Sunderland. I was given the role of Assistant Chief Liaison Officer looking after 320 volunteers across the city to assist the smooth running of The Tall Ships Races.  I was also heavily involved in the administration of the young people that were chosen to take part in The Tall Ships Races.

I also volunteer for North East Homeless in Sunderland.  A charity that works closely with homeless and vulnerable people in The North East.  Giving out hot food, drinks and clothing to people in need.

I have also been the Secretary and Standard Bearer of my local Royal British Legion for over ten years.   I took part in the Great Pilgrimage 90 in 2018 in Northern France.

I live in Sunderland and have two sons. I enjoy traveling with my caravan, and spending time outdoors whether in the UK or abroad.

I am looking forward to working with Grace House and enjoy being part of the team.
