I was born in Sunderland where I have lived all of my life and am proud of my roots. After a career in the public sector, I followed my lifelong ambition, to study fine art and since graduating, I have worked as an artist in the North East.
The part of my early public sector career I enjoyed most was meeting and helping people and that’s what attracted me to apply for the One Place Your Space Project Assistant opportunity at Grace House. Since my appointment I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the team here and also meeting or speaking to our clients on a daily basis. This is one of the most important aspects of my role and it’s been so rewarding being able to make a difference to the lives of people who use the services at Grace House. I am delighted to take up my new role as ‘You Are Not Alone’ project coordinator from January 2020 and am very much looking forward to help deliver vital additional activities and support, working with the needs of Grace House families at heart.
Outside of my role at Grace House, I am a contemporary artist practicing across interdisciplinary mediums. I continue to bring creativity into the lives of people in and around Sunderland and the North East and enjoy being involved in arts exhibitions, events and projects throughout the city and further afield. I aim to engage people in arts and culture that otherwise would not have the opportunity. I am interested in arts for health and wellbeing and have been able to introduce this to our families at Grace House, recently facilitating arts workshops which has been extremely fulfilling.
