The Grace House North East Children’s Hospice Appeal was founded by local broadcaster Kathy Secker. When she heard that the North East of England had the lowest number of hospice beds in the United Kingdom she decided to launch the charity to ensure that local families had access to this type of care. |
"I would like to thank everyone who has helped the appeal so far. Over £2 million has been raised and every donation is very much appreciated and does make such a difference. Everyday we are getting closer to raising the £3.5 million which is the target set to build and equip the hospice."
" I am delighted to announce that the chosen site for the new children's hospice is in Southwick, Sunderland. We have signed a 999-year lease for the land, the hoardings are up, plans have been passed and we should be starting to build in November. "
